The Concept
Our "mad" idea is to live in a house that is built around a medieval concept of housing space. We're not quite mad enough to live in a reproduction medieval house with all its attendant lack of conveniences, so we're pretending this one was built back in, say, the fourteenth century and has been lived in, added to, and modified in since then. Though it is now quite modern, it has "medieval bones."
