Rain, rain. Sheesh. It looks like a series of afternoon storms, which resulted in work shutting down early for the day, have pushed back the raising. It won’t be happening on the 12th. Right now, the best info we got is sometime the following week.
The party’s still on though. Good thing we’ve been calling it a “timber party” and not a “timber raising party.”
The good news is the second bent is up and attached to the first. It took a little longer than anticipated to get it into place (another contributor to the push back on the raising). So right now, we have a tiny house with a lovely blue tarp roof and no walls. We actually have a space within which one can stand. Pictures will go up when I get a chance.
I did discover a mortise set in the wrong/right place. Wrong because it wouldn’t allow the fitting of the intended door. Right because it was drawn in that position on one of the plans (not the other mind you, but builders don’t always cross reference when at work.) It’ll get corrected and the wayward mortise won’t show in the finished product,
Meanwhile on the home front, we got a contract on the old house — literally just before we left town for two weeks. We’re back now and things are shifting into ferocious high gear to clear out of the old house. Much remains to be figured out. By fortuitous chance, we’ll be renting the house across the street from the building site starting on the 12th. Officially we’ll take up residence in said abode somewhat after. The exact date will depend on when stuff gets mnoved. Hmmmmm, always in motion is the future.
